Non-stick cookware coated with PTFE (Teflon) or other PFAS compounds releases toxic particles and gases when overheated or scratched. These 'forever chemicals' accumulate in the body and have been linked to thyroid disease, cancer, and immune dysfunction. Every meal cooked in a scratched non-stick pan is a potential exposure event.
Why We Recommend This Product
Caraway is a significant improvement over traditional Teflon. Their ceramic coating is free of PTFE and PFAS. However, ceramic coatings still degrade and the long-term safety profile is less established than cast iron. A good transitional choice.
