How It Works
Simple, structured, and designed to actually stick. One zone per week so you never feel overwhelmed.
One Zone Per Week
Each week focuses on a single area of your home — closet, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, pantry, and car.
We Tell You Exactly What to Swap
No guessing. We give you a specific list of what to look for, what to remove, and what to replace it with — with links to PFR-rated alternatives.
Post Your Progress
Share before/after photos on Instagram or TikTok with #PlasticFreeChallenge. Show what you removed, how your space looks after, or what you replaced it with.
Win a Plastic-Free Gift Basket
Everyone who posts at least 3 times during the challenge is entered to win. One random winner, one 'most improved' winner judged by our team.
Get Your Kids Involved
Children are more vulnerable to plastic chemicals than adults — their developing bodies absorb and process these compounds differently. But they're also the most powerful agents of change in a household.
Each week's guide includes a kids' activity — something age-appropriate that turns the challenge into a learning moment. Teaching a child to read a fabric tag, identify a plastic container, or choose a glass bottle over a plastic one is a habit that will follow them for life.
The 6-Week Plan
A preview of what we'll tackle each week. Full guides go out by email the Sunday before each week starts.

Common Questions
Do I have to replace everything at once?
Absolutely not. The goal is awareness and gradual improvement, not perfection. Even removing the highest-risk items — like scratched non-stick pans or plastic utensils used with hot food — makes a meaningful difference. Replace things as they wear out.
My kids are young. Is this appropriate for them?
Yes — and it's especially valuable. Each week includes a simple, age-appropriate activity for kids. Young children are more vulnerable to plastic chemicals than adults, so reducing their exposure matters more, not less. Keep it fun and frame it as a detective game.
Do I need to post on social media to participate?
You don't need to post to do the challenge — the weekly guides are free and open to everyone. But posting with #PlasticFreeChallenge is how you enter the prize drawing and connect with the community.
Why May?
Spring is consistently the highest-engagement period for home organization and wellness challenges. People are already in a 'reset' mindset, the weather is improving, and motivation is naturally high. It also gives families time to complete the challenge before summer.
Are the replacement products expensive?
Some are, some aren't. We always include a range of options. Many swaps — like switching to a bamboo toothbrush, buying glass jars instead of canned goods, or using a Guppyfriend bag — cost the same or less than what you're replacing.
